Both teams played a real good passing game and created a few openings.

“2 Boats Club” v “NAAFI 1”

Both teams played a real good passing game and created a few openings.  Two Boats Club drew first blood when Duane March was sent clear after a great ball from Eugene Bennett and finished in the bottom left corner to give 2 boats an early lead.  NAAFI 1 continued their passing game and were gifted and equaliser when 2 Boats Keeper Damien O’Bey failed to clear a ball on the edge of the box and Robert Yon was on hand to tap the ball into an open goal.

The second half was a well fought half with both teams pressing for a winner.  Man of the match Darren Reynolds of 2 Boats club had a shot saved by Alwin and at the other end Leroy Hudson shot wide after finding some space on the left wing.  The winner never came and the game ended in a draw.  “NAAFI 1” 1 “Two Boats Club” 1

“NAAFI 2” v “Saints Club”

The game was an end to end affair right from the start.  Both teams played attacking football but were let down by the final ball and the strikers being wasteful in front of goal.  The boys of NAAFI 2 were the first to score.  Russell Peters of NAAFI 2 found some space on the left wing and squared for Adam Robinson to tap in and give NAAFI 2 the lead.  Martin Joshua came close to scoring an equaliser but his shot was brilliantly saved by keeper Dennis Stroud.

The start of the second half saw Saints Club throwing more players forward in search of the equaliser.  This left the back line exposed and NAAFI 2 took full advantage of this.  Goal 2 came after the NAAFI winger was able to send in a cross from the right which Gavin Pare met on the edge of the box and fired a sweet volley into the right hand corner of the Saints Club goal.  Goal 3, - both Adam Robinson and Gavin Pare were sent clear by a long ball, Gav’ got to the ball first and lobbed the advancing keeper.  Goal 4 Gav’ once again found himself in behind the Saints club defence, he calmly took on the keeper and tapped in for his Hat trick and the Man of the Match award.  Martin Joshua scored a consolation goal for the Saints Club after he weaved his way through the NAAFI defence and his shot beat the NAAFI keeper.  “NAAFI 2” 4 – “Saints Club” 1

“VC2” v “VC1”

The game was all VC1 from the start.  Early in the game Jeremy Constantine powered his way through the VC2 Defence and finished in the right hand corner.  JJ Buckley’s long throw caught the VC2 defence sleeping and Man of the Match Clayton Benjamin ran in behind and beat the keeper with a crisp finish.  In a rare VC2 attack Ashley Lawrence chased a long ball and slid the ball beyond the VC1 keeper Paul Thomas to keep VC2 in the game.  Any hopes VC2 had of drawing level were soon dashed when Cardi Green had a shot at the VC2 keeper which he fumbled and allowed the ball to cross the goal line for VC1’s 3rd goal.

The second half saw 2 more goals From VC1.  Cardi Green found himself behind the VC2 defence and lobbed VC2 keeper for his second goal and VC1’s 4th.  Jermaine O’Connor picked up the ball outside the box and fired a shot at the top right hand corner of VC2’s goal which beat the VC2 Keeper for VC1’s 5th goal and became a definite contender for goal of the season.

“VC1” 5 “VC2” 1.
