NAAFI 2 V VC 2
The game began brightly with a well worked NAAFI attack. In the Absence of Captain Steve Muggridge, Adam Robinson moved from Centre Half to partner Troy Bennett at centre midfield. The pair combined well to only to be cut out by VC 2 Centre half Robert Bedwell. 15 Minutes into the Game After some great passing NAAFI 2’s Adam Robinson found some space in VC 2’s Area and fired his Shot across Keeper Wayne Crowie for the yellows first Goal. Having started slowly, VC 2 gradually started to get into the game and began move the ball around. Man of the match Ashley Lawrence began to pull the strings from the centre of the pitch breaking up most of the NAFFI play and spraying a few good balls to either side of the pitch to create a few chances for VC 2. The equaliser came after a brilliant passing move on the left wing between VC 2’s Errol Thomas and Dave Bagley. The pair exchanged a string of passes to create a shooting opportunity for Dave Bagley who took his chance well and hit his shot beyond NAAFI 2 keeper Dennis Stroud. The first half ended after VC 2 had created a few more chances but failed to apply a finish to any of their moves
VC 2 Continued with their attacking style of play from the beginning of the second half. VC 2’s Martin Bagley charged down an attempted clearance from NAAFI 2’s Keeper and scored VC 2’s second goal of the match. NAAFI 2 pressed forward for an equaliser but VC 2 defended well and managed to take all 3 points from the Game.
VC 1 V NAAFI 1
Expectations of this game were high with the quality of players on display and both teams on equal points. The game saw 2 goals both in the Second half. Cruyff Buckley gave NAAFI 1 a Lead with a brilliant Curling Free Kick which VC 1 Keeper Paul Thomas had no chance of saving. The Lead was short lived, NAAFI 1 was caught in possession, and a well worked counter attack and a great finish from Clayton Benjamin of VC 1 ensured an equaliser. The game was a hard fought game with both teams aiming to win. Darren Henry of NAAFI 1 was given the Man of the Match award after having a great game in Defence for the team in Orange!
2 Boats Club V Saints Club
Much of the first half was spent with both teams cancelling each other out with 2 boats playing the better football and creating more chances. Duane March ran in behind Saints Club back line and beat the Saints Club Keeper Darrell Henry to the ball and finished into an open goal for 2 Boats Club’s First Goal.
Saints Club pressed forward and earned a “throw in” Deep in the 2 boats half. After a long throw and a tussle between 2 boats Defender Chris Yon and Saints Club Centre forward Nicky John in the 2 Boats Penalty Area Chris Yon was penalised for a Fowl on Nicky which resulted in Saints Club being awarded a Penalty. Melvyn Moyce stepped up and converted the penalty for a “Saint’s club” equaliser.
The start of the second half saw Saints Club continuing to attack the 2 Boats Goal. Early on Nicky John found himself one on one with 2 Boats Keeper Damien O’Bey after a defensive mistake from the 2 boats Backline. Nicky kept his composure and dinked the ball over the 2 boats keeper for the Saints Club’s second goal of the match. Saints Club’s third goal came after 2 boats failed to clear a corner and Nicky John fired home for his second goal in the match. 2 boats battled on and Duane March latched onto Eugene Bennett’s through ball to score his and 2 boats second goal of the match. 2 boats continued to battle on and look for the Equaliser but Saints Club hung on strong and kept 2 Boats at bay to take all three points from the game. Nicky John was given the man of the match award for his great play and 2 goals earned his team their first win of the season.
