Ascension : Ascension Day Fair - Craft Show
Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 10.04.2008 (Article Archived on 24.04.2008)

SO you have your seeds planted and are nurturing those tomatoes… the sun and rain are working wonders…

however you can’t help but wonder what Joe is doing to make his so much bigger than yours – well keep trying!  There is still one month to go to improve your secret fertiliser so that you have the best at the show.

If however you are like me and can’t keep the bloomin ants off the new shoots – don’t despair – there are plenty other classes you may enter that don’t rely so much on mother nature… how about making a lovely tray bake – everyone says your chocolate caramel shortcake is great (Why do the Hashers think I they are getting different flapjacks each week – I am recording their comments to see which one I should enter)

Then there is the photographs – I know plenty of Funny Folk, but capturing them isn’t always easy – I would start worrying if people want to keep taking your photo these coming weeks – at least you know now what they are up to!  We have had some great sunsets this week too – so I must remember to get a few shots of that – keep the camera in the car and I might just be lucky to get a great landscape photo

I can’t knit – never did get beyond a scarf when I was younger – but perhaps you can.  One thing I could have a go at this year is recycling an old jam jar – decorate it with whatever you like.  We keep our teabags in one – but it does look a bit plain, so I think I will try and find a way to make it look more funky.  Surely there must be plenty of jam jars around that just need some TLC to look good and they will be useful tool

And for the kids – how about using all sorts of bits and pieces (fabric/paper/glitter/things you pick up from around), some scissors and glue to make a collage of the seaside.  Let your creativity flow

Just some of the things for this years show – for more information pick up a programme from anywhere around the island.
