ASCENSION ISLAND GOVERNMENT - The Ascension Island Government (AIG) has two vacancies for General Workers.
The posts are within the Public Services Section of the Works & Services Department and reports directly to the Public Services Foreman.
The applicants must be conscientious workers, be physically fit and have some experience in building works which may include routine maintenance.
The main duties of the post are:-
1. To work in the Public Services Section in support of a wide range of public services activities.
2. To maintain access to Green Mountain National Park by clearing vegetation and making necessary repairs to paths and associated infrastructure.
3. Assisting other tradesman with the day-to-day repairs and maintenance programmes.
4. Carry out ship work duties and to work reasonable overtime as and when required.
The successful applicants will be expected to have regard for AIG’s health and safety standards. They should ideally hold valid A, B & J driving licences.
The posts are offered as either a Household or Single Status Contract for two years. The Job is graded at Level 2 with a minimum and maximum salary band of £4,100 - £7,700 (before tax) per annum. The successful applicants’ salaries will fall within this salary band and will depend on qualifications and experience. If engaged on a Single Status contract, a Self-Catering Allowance of £2,688 per annum will also be paid and accommodation will be provided.
