As many of you may be aware, Elizabeth Bell and Dave Boyle (WMIL) are visiting Ascension until April 6 to undertake rabbit monitoring and survey work for AIG under the South Atlantic Invasive Species Project.

As many of you may be aware, Elizabeth Bell and Dave Boyle (WMIL) are visiting Ascension until April 6 to undertake rabbit monitoring and survey work for AIG under the South Atlantic Invasive Species Project.
There has been some concern expressed recently about the impacts of rabbits on the island so they are here to work with the Environmental Health and Conservation teams to assess the situation, survey the island’s rabbit population, set up some long term monitoring and offer suggestions for any possible future action.
Your views are important so WMIL plans to hold a public meeting about the rabbit issue and would like to invite the island community to attend to discuss views on the impacts of rabbits and what you would like to see done. This will hopefully take place in about 2 weeks time, details in next weeks Islander.
In addition to a public meeting, a questionnaire will be in next weeks Islander so as many people as possible can have their say on the issue.
In the mean time we will be trying to talk to as many people as possible but feel free to get in touch with us at Clarence House, or Suzanna at Conservation Department or Charles at Environmental Health if you have anything you want to discuss or suggest.
