We all gathered at the Bullocks Pond parking area, anxious about another of I’m Easy’s hashes! She had a sorry soul help her this week, though, so we all thought, how tough can it be? We were about to find out!! Promised a new stamp for our letterbox books, off we went.
On-on we traveled, all the way to Bullocks Pond before we even found the first circle check!! And there were six of them?? It was starting to be obvious that I’m Easy had not let her assistant off easy. Or us. The kiddies went off on their own easier route, while the rest headed into a gully (by several different routes I might add!!), and then started to climb.
The destination was pointed out to some who hemmed and hawed about whether to continue! Mildew decided the kiddies needed some company to make sure they didn’t get lost. A few more continued on, only to change their minds a few hundred feet farther up. While the rest of the intrepid hashers continued to climb, Fugitive and 100 Watt could be seen escorting Bossy Blades back down by an alternate route. Such gentlemen they were!
For the rest it was on-on and up-up!! Bloodsucker decided that a few photo ops were in order, and took her time. Poor Lane couldn’t change his mind – he had her Walks Book in his backpack, and woe to him if he didn’t make it!! Eventually we all arrived at the Duck Pond, and it was time for signing the book, stamping our books or the bits of paper provided, and admiring the view. While the latecomers caught their breath, the well-rested FRBs headed down.
Of course, the return route couldn’t cover the same ground, and it was off in another direction. More views to admire, more photo ops, and eventually the last group beat their way back home. I’m Easy decided on a short cut near the bottom of the gully that required a significant amount of boulder hopping, but assured that she knew where she was going, the slow-pokes followed her blindly.
We all made it back safe and sound, and ready for good refreshments & nibbles. The circle of friendship was drawn and first up were Denise and Carrie. A number of good names were bounced around, but certain applicable ones caught the crowd’s attention. Denise will now be known as Over & Done With, while Carrie’s new moniker is Wobbly Bits. Next up it was the guys’ turn and Joe and Darren got called into the circle. Thanks to their job skills (so we hear) Joe is now Revolting, while Darren has become Rusty Nuts. Welcome to the Ascension Hash House Harriers to you all!
Despite some folks having to leave early, the firewood was gathered, and the rest settled in to warm up! Great hash I’m Easy and Over & Done With. We can see a bright future ahead for you in setting challenging hashes!
Next Week: Hood Guns on Cross Hill
Hares: Bungalow Bill & Two Cocks
