Ascension : Two Boats School - Visit by Governor of St Helena & His Wife
Submitted by The Islander (Soo Matthews) 17.01.2008 (Article Archived on 31.01.2008)

Mr and Mrs Gurr took time in their busy schedule to spend time in the school today. They met with the staff and talked to the children in their classrooms asking lots of questions about the work they were doing.

Mr and Mrs Gurr shared some of their school experiences with the children.

There are a couple of photos below of their visit.

It was a pleasure to meet the Governor and his wife and we hope they pop in to see us again next time they are here.

Staff Learning

Term got off to a busy start last week with training taking place for staff throughout the week.  This was very successful and Janet our trainer was impressed with what she saw.

We also welcomed Mrs Linda Yon to the staff formally.  Mrs Yon has taken over the role of Nursery teacher and is the Senior teacher SEN and Student Welfare.

Year 11 Mock Exams

Year 11 have their mock exams this week and next week.  These will hep them to prepare for the real exams in May.  The exams are being held in the library and results will be included in the year 11 reports.

Terms 2A and 2B are when Year 11 students have lots of deadlines coming up for their coursework.  It will be important for parents to help ensure their children have completed the work to the best of their (the child’s) ability.

Swimming

This term years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be taking swimming lessons as part of their PE timetable.

These will take place on Friday mornings between 11:00am and 12:15pm

If any parents are able and willing to help please contact Ms Matthews on 6155.

Evening Classes

Just a quick reminder that evening classes have started again.

It is not possible to join the exam classes but it may still be possible to join some of the others – please call for further information.
