Ascension : Two Boats School - Children in Need Week
Submitted by The Islander (Soo Matthews) 15.11.2007 (Article Archived on 29.11.2007)

Friday 16th November is Children in Need Day and in school we will be taking part in a number of activities –

Bring a Bear

We invite all the children to come to school in their pyjamas and bring along their favourite bears.  We ask for a £1 donation towards Children in Need.  At lunch time the Primary Sector will have a teddy bear’s picnic in the playgrounds.

Wet Sponges

We will also be selling the opportunity to throw a wet sponge at members of staff for just 10p a sponge!!!!

Sponsored Walk

We are also organising a sponsored walk for the following week with proceeds from this being split between Children in Need and school.

Why not visit www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey and see what fun and games they have on there.

Primary Challenges 12th – 19 November

Reception & Years 1 / 2

Draw a picture of Pudsey Bear helping someone.

Years 3 / 4

Think of an interesting way to raise money for ‘Children in Need’, and use bullet points to write your list of instructions for your activity.

Years 5 / 6

Investigate the idea of ‘Children in Need’. Write a paragraph of at least 6 sentences describing its aims and what sort of activities and people it supports.

Primary Challenge for half term

Our Primary Half Term Challenge was for the children to design a Christmas card. We had a fantastic response, with 21 entrants. The School council met on Tuesday, and selected 6 designs to be used for Two Boats School Christmas cards. We are emailing the designs to the UK this week, and hope to have our own special Christmas cards for sale on Ascension in time for Christmas. We will send details home about availability and costs as soon as we have them.

Thank you to all the children who took part.

The successful designers are:  Mike Greentree, Josh Lawrence, Alexia Reynolds, Brandi Leo, Trey Leo and Aiden Leo.

We are all looking forward to seeing their designs on our official Christmas cards.

If you are interested in buying some of our Christmas cards please contact school to indicate an approximate number of cards. Costs will depend on the number of cards we order as a school.

Crafty request – Save your loo rolls!

Please can you save the cardboard middles of toilet rolls, and give them to us, so that we can use them to make some decorations for Christmas. Inside tubes from foil and cling film would be good too!  Please give them to your child, who can pass them on to Ms Evans.

Thank you

Anti-Bullying Week

Next week is anti bullying week in school.

Our assemblies and PSHCE lessons will focus on bullying and how children should deal with it.
