England go through again with the Rugby! Can they win the World cup again? I heard Georgina Close shouting from Georgetown in Two Boats, you were almost drowned out by Daniel Hirons across the road!

O.K.  O.K.  I hear you… enough Rugby for now… sorry, I just get a bit carried away… well I wish I was by a few of those Rugby fellas!

So you aren’t into Rugby, Dad is hogging the T.V. at the weekend, so what can you do?

How about getting into the kitchen and making these really easy cookies.  I have tried out the recipe and they are pretty yummy – especially with extra chocolate in them.

The red rose is on the badge of the English Rugby Unions team.

Sweet (Chariot) Cookies

225g unsalted butter.  (margarine will do)

225g castor sugar

170g condensed milk

350g self raising flour (sifted)

100g chocolate chopped

100g hazelnuts

Method

Preheat oven 180 degrees (gas mark 4)

Cream the butter and sugar until pale

Stir in condensed milk.

Mix in flour and then work in the chocolate and hazelnuts.

Divide dough in half and place each in a square of foil or cling-film.  Roll and shape into a thick sausage.  Do the same with the other half.

Chill well. (this will keep for a week or so in the fridge).

When ready to bake, peel off the foil or film, cut off thick slices which should be circle shapes. Place on tray lined with baking parchment and put in oven for 15 mins until golden brown at edges but still soft.

Or you could make a St Georges cross flag for Dad to wave.  They are simple to make, a red cross on a white background, quite a few were flying for a while around the Football World Cup.   Remember how short lived they were!  Well now is your chance to get the flags out again!

GO ENGLAND!

Swing Low, Sweet Chariot…

I’ll spare you my singing – only Simon, Jonathan and Ellen have to put up with that!
