ongratulations to Benjamin Leo on successfully completing a challenging year of recruitment and training at the British Army Foundation College, Harrogate. Pictured above at his passing out parade held at the BAF College on 17th August, he was joined by his parents for a truly commemorative service.

Benjamin is one of a growing number of young people born and bred on Ascension Island who have then volunteered to join the British Armed Forces.  Indeed, he follows in the footsteps of his two older brothers, Shaun and David Leo.

Craftsman Leo will now take part in further training and serve with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).  The corps has responsibility for the maintenance, servicing and inspection of almost every electrical and mechanical piece of equipment within the British Army.

The team at The Islander would like to join Benjamin’s family in congratulating him and wishing him every future success in his chosen career.
