The Ascension Island Government (AIG) will shortly have a vacancy for a General Worker.

The Ascension Island Government (AIG) will shortly have a vacancy for a General Worker. The post is within the Public Services Section of the Works & Services Department and reports directly to the Public Services Foreman.
The applicant must be a conscientious worker, be physically fit and have some experience in building works which may include routine maintenance.
The main duties of the post are:-
· Refuse collection and disposal.
· To assist tradesmen with the upkeep of and minor new works to AIG and customer buildings.
· Carry out general duties in connection with works.
· To work ship as and when required.
· To undertake any other related duties as requested by the Foreman.
The successful applicant will be expected to have regard for AIG’s health and safety standards. They should ideally hold a valid A, B & J driving licence.
The post is offered as a Single Status Contract for two years. The Job is graded at Level 2 with a minimum and maximum salary band of £4,100 - £7,700 (before tax) per annum. The successful applicant’s salary will fall within this salary band and will depend on qualifications and experience. In addition to the salary, a Self-Catering Allowance of £2,688 per annum will be paid. Accommodation will be provided.
