It has been reported in the Friday, 19 October 2003 St. Helena Herald that on 01 October 2003, an agreement was signed between the United States and Britain allowing two landings and two take-offs per week by commercial chartered aircraft at Wideawake Airfield.
As yet, it has not been reported who signed the "agreement" on both sides and where the treaty was signed.
The Islander and SARTMA are endeavouring to write a complete story about the "agreement" signing and will bring readers more details when they become available.
