Ascension : Two Boats School - Nursery Times
Submitted by The Islander (Soo Matthews) 10.05.2007 (Article Archived on 24.05.2007)

Dear Members of the Community, From September 2007 there will be some changes in our Nursery including an increase in the number of hours our Nursery operates.

13/05/2007

The former council recommended funding in the 2007-08 budget to support the new appointment of a qualified Nursery teacher and a part time Nursery Assistant.    They also recommended funding for some works to be carried out to adapt one of our classrooms to become the base for the Nursery classroom.  We would like to thank the former councillors for their support in helping us to better meet the needs of the younger age group of our community.

From September the Nursery will operate from 8:45am until 12:15pm.  With the available staffing and the space in our accommodation we will continue to be able to offer a maximum of 15 places.  There are still a lot of details to be finalised regarding practical issues such as appointing staff, resources and transport.  These are all in hand and we have already had a good response to the advert for a Nursery teacher and hope to appoint someone before the end of May.

Mrs Angela Yon will continue to work at the school teaching ICT to children in years 1 to 4 and supporting pupils with their literacy and numeracy work in years 3 to 6.  We would like to thank Mrs Yon for all of her hard work with Nursery children over the years.

We are now in the process of accepting applications for Nursery places from September and ask prospective parents to contact Tavie at the school for an application form.

In the meantime if you have any further question please feel free to contact us at school.

Yours sincerely,

Soo Matthews
