Ascension : TWO BOATS CLUB - ROCK FISHING COMPETITION
Submitted by The Islander (Nathan Prince) 25.09.2003 (Article Archived on 19.10.2003)

The clear sky on Sunday morning, 13 September, helped to ensured that the Fishing Competition got off to an encouraging start.

25 teams, some 75 competitors, left the club at 8pm with hopes of catching the heaviest grouper, the heaviest eel or accumulating the greatest amount of grouper fillets and return to the club by 12 o'clock. After the weigh-in, the winners and runners-up were as follows:

Grouper 1st place: 8lbs 8ozs - Chris Henry. 2nd place: 7lbs 8ozs - Krystal Clifford & Ray Benjamin
Eel 1st place:12lbs 4 ozs - Cyril Andrews. 2nd place: 12lbs - David Beard.
Grouper Fillets 1st place: 91lbs - Blue Coke, Trimmer & Ian Crowie.
2nd place: 89lbs - Lionel Thomas, Errol Herne & Krystal Clifford.

Special thank-you to our Sports Member, David "Platter" Lawrence for all the hard work in organising the hugely successful event and to Brian "Dutch" Lawrence for assisting Platter in preparing and cooking the much appreciated "fish fry"; and also to Chris Webster for your valuable support with the cooking and to Jeff Francis for recording the catch.

Also on Sunday TBC had their Presentation Nite, bringing a climatic end to a period of impressive sporting participation and achievements in both the Darts and Snooker competitions. Congratulations to everyone who competed, not least the Winners and the Runners-up, for bringing that entertaining and sporting competitive edge to each game.
