Ascension : Letters To The Islander Submitted by The Islander (Gavin Yon) 08.02.2007 (Article Archived on 22.02.2007)
My father, Raymond Hatley, was on Ascension Island during WWII as an enginer to help build the airfield.
My father, Raymond Hatley, was on Ascension Island during WWII as an enginer to help build the airfield. He has since died, having never returned to Ascension. We do have, however, some of his photos of the Island. I collect Nativity Scenes and/or paintings of the Nativity of Christ. I would love to find someone on the Island who could paint a Nativity of Christ as though it happen on Ascension Island. Although it is too late for my father, my mother (age 83) would also prize such a painting. Do you know of any person on the Island who could or would help me in this progect? I have over 550 Nativities from more than 60 countries, but this one would be very special. Please, if possible help me. Thank you. Joe Hatley
