Kids Klub

I’m so excited – I am off to the U.K. for a break on Saturday to see family and friends for Christmas, the only thing is that we live in the country a long way from the shops and there isn’t a lot of time to do shopping anyway, so I was wondering what presents our friends would like when I see them.  Then I thought that everyone likes sweets and candies and with a little help you could try and make these and decorate a box with some Christmassy things to make extra special gifts.

Fruit and Nut Clulsters

75g toasted hazelnuts (or almonds)

50g walnuts

50g glace cherries

200g chocolate

Roughly chop the nuts and cherries.

Melt the chocolate in a bowl over some hot water.

Stir the nuts and cherries into the chocolate.

Drop a teaspoonful of the mixture into paper sweet

cases and leave in a cool place to set.

Peppermint Creams

450 g icing sugar

1 egg

½ lemon

½ tsp peppermint essence

Sift the icing sugar into a bowl.

Separate the egg, then mix the egg white into the icing sugar.  If the mixture is too stiff to hold together, squeeze the juice from the lemon and a little, drop by drop, until the mixture is firm but smooth.

Add the peppermint essence

Roll out onto a surface dusted with icing sugar and cut into shapes.  Leave in a cool place to set.

Colour in the presents and write who you think they might be for and what you wish was inside them.
