Ascension : Police Activity Report
Submitted by The Islander (Gavin Yon) 21.12.2006 (Article Archived on 04.01.2007)

The Police received and dealt with four reports for the period of Monday 11th December to 18th December

The Police received and dealt with four reports for the period of Monday 11th December to 18th December which includes one Request Police Assistance two Road Traffic Accidents and one Road Traffic Offence.

On Friday morning the rescue services were alerted to the effect that a person had gone missing at sea near English Bay Beach, but it was later revealed that it was a false alarm.  The Police investigated and found that two persons were found drunk on the beach, swimming.  The appropriate action was then taken by the Police.   There were two Road Traffic Accidents occurred on the early hours of Sunday morning, both accidents were drink related.  These cases are still under investigations. One Road Traffic Offence was dealt with on Wednesday whereby the driver was given a verbal warning.

I would like to mention that drivers must take heed to our last write up in the Islander, concerning drink and driving, as I feel that people are not adhering to it.  Knowing that the festive season is upon us again we would like to have an accident free period.

On behalf of the Ascension Detachment I wish you all a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.
