Ascension Island Government requires a Field Worker to work in their Conservation Department.

Ascension Island Government requires a Field Worker to work in their Conservation Department. This post is for a three month period only, and has been created for the purpose of continuing the implementation of the Seabird Restoration Project for the Ascension Island Government Conservation Centre.
The duties of the post will basically include the following:
Ø Monitoring seabird nesting sites
Ø Trapping to kill suspected feral cats
Ø Catching and preparing fish for monitoring, trapping and poisoning needs
Ø Maintaining and servicing all equipment used in this programme
Ø Keep records of tasks undertaken
The successful applicant should have:
- An ability to implement plans.
- An ability to work independently to a high standard, and be confident and competent working unsupervised
- Be physically fit and able to walk long distances on a daily basis
- Experience of working in outdoor field work
- Be in possession of a valid drivers licence
The post, which reports to the Conservation Officer, is offered on a household status basis for a period of three months.
The salary for the post is £6500 (gross) per annum.
