ASCENSION: It was a lovely start to the week, but the drizzly showers have returned with a vengeance, as those who completed Sunday’s Dew Pond Run will testify. Last month was officially the wettest October on record at the Met Office observatory. Records date back to 1984.

ST. HELENA: Another poor week on our sister island, with cloudy skies and drizzly showers. The best weather was seen across Jamestown and Half Tree Hollow. The likes of Level Wood and Bottom Woods saw very little in the way of sunshine.

UK: On Thursday, a deep low brought stormy weather to northern Scotland. Flooding occurred in Orkney where 3.3 inches of rain were recorded. Over 50,000 people lost power for a time in Aberdeenshire, north Highland and Moray; some roads and railways were closed as landslides and fallen trees added to the chaos.

FALKLANDS: It has been windy throughout the week, but that said, it has stayed largely dry.
