Statistics for the week ending Monday 9th October 2006
A rather cloudy and miserable start to the week with most of the rain falling during this period. Even lower locations recorded a decent amount of rainfall. As expected it did slowly got drier and we had more sunny spells as the week went on, with Friday being the warmest day.
A sunny beginning and end to the week but mostly cloudy during the middle part. The weekend was very pleasant with lots of sunshine and the weekly maximum was recorded on Saturday. With only 3.0mm of rainfall it was a particular dry week for the island.
Autumn really began to show it’s hand this week with temperatures failing to reach 20 degrees. However nowhere in the UK had an overnight frost. Again there was a lot of rainfall with many places on a daily basis having more than 25 millimetres of rain.
After a cloudy day on Monday things brightened up on Tuesday. However cloud and rain once again pushed over the Islands on Thursday, with Friday being a particularly horrible day with strong southerly winds, some wintry precipitation and temperatures only reaching 3 Celsius. It was much calmer over the weekend and in contrast to Friday, Saturday was the warmest day of the week.
