ASCENSION:

A mostly cloudy week although there was the usual sunny breaks, but the higher you went up the mountain the wetter it got. Georgetown saw only short sharp showers and a millimetre of rain whereas the Residency reported ‘a lot of miserable days in the cloud’ and had 17 millimetres of rain

ST. HELENA:

Still in mid-winter with lots of cloud and little sunshine, best of that being seen on Tuesday, Saturday and more especially Thursday, with a weekly total of 23.5 hours being recorded. Very windy early in the week with 37 knots recorded on Tuesday.

UK:

Brize nearly made it as the warmest place, but given Heathrow recorded 30 Celsius last Monday then title as the hot spot still goes to the UK! Many parts of Southern England again recorded temperatures in the mid 20’s Celsius with the usual places, Falmouth and Eastbourne having 12 hours of sunshine. However the really warm weather was broken by some heavy thunderstorms and Brize suffered 40 MM in 6 hours Wednesday morning!

FALKLANDS:

After a warm start the week finished wet and cold. Monday was the warmest day and until Thursday it remained mild but mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain. On Saturday the winds shifted into the south and brought some very cold air over the Islands which not only gave them some frosts but also very wintry with 9cm of lying snow this Monday morning.
