Ascension : Tales from Green Mountain - Blue Dragon (Part Three)
Submitted by The Islander (Gavin Yon) 02.03.2006 (Article Archived on 16.03.2006)

The day of the Meeting arrived. All of the dragons were there. The Dragon King provided a feast in his cave and asked the other dragons what they thought about the strange fire.

The day of the Meeting arrived.  All of the dragons were there.  The Dragon King provided a feast in his cave and asked the other dragons what they thought about the strange fire.  Several of them had seen similar fires on land.  These fires had produced rivers of molten rock that had destroyed everything in their path.  They had taken a long time to go out and the rock had taken a long time to cool down.

The Dragon King finally decided that there was nothing that the dragons could do to help the Earth.  They would just have to wait until the fire in the Ocean cooled down.  The Green, Brown and Yellow Dragons stayed all day talking in the cave and started to leave as the sun set.  The Dragon King and Blue watched them disappear into the distance and green, brown and yellow sparkles seemed to fill the golden sky.

Why don’t you colour the picture in the box below?  How about a Green, Brown or Yellow Dragon?

Many years passed before the Dragon King asked Blue to go back to the spot where the fire had been.  When he arrived the fire was no longer there and a small island stood in its place.  He decided to explore the island.  A flash of blue circled the coastline, swooped up, down and around and finally settled at the highest point, on top of a mountain.  A snowstorm of blue sparkles settled on the land.

The following years passed very happily for Blue.  He kept himself busy playing games with his brother and sister and helping the Dragon King.  Then one day he woke up and decided that it was time for him to leave the Atlas Mountains.  His brother and sister decided to leave too!  After all, they were fully grown and quite wise now!  The Dragon King agreed to let them go and organised a huge leaving party for them.  The party started in the evening and the Blue Dragons ate, danced and played all through the night.  The moon shone brightly, the stars glowed and blue sparkles filled the air.

When morning arrived, the three, young, Blue Dragons all set out to find a new home.  Blue’s brother found a cave in the High Atlas Mountains and his sister found a cave in the Lower Atlas Mountains.  Blue decided to make his home on the island that he had found.  When he returned to Ascension, he discovered, to his delight, that tiny plants had begun to grow where his blue sparkles had fallen.  He found a small cave, in a secret place, up Green Mountain and made it his home.  He lives there to this day.  You will probably never see Blue but when you see blue sparkles in the sky, on the ground or in the sea you will know that he is still here.

The End
