Kids Klub

What a lovely afternoon we had last week at the Launch of the new shuttle boat – the Queen Atlantis.  Some lucky children had a ride out on her and I know they enjoyed their trip.  Well done to Laura who did a great job of naming the boat and even up high on a cherry picker your words came across loud and clear – I hope you enjoyed the special day.

Keeping with the boat theme I have a puzzle here for you…  The answer is at the bottom of the page – but have a think about it first!

Q: The rope ladder of a boat hangs over the side of the boat and just reaches the water.  It’s rungs are 12 cm apart.  How many rungs will be under the water when the tide rises 60cm?

Playground game: Shipmates

This is a simple game where everyone can play.  One person is the Captain and shouts out instructions.  The rest of the people are the crew.  The last person to do the action is out and the last person to still be in the game is the next captain.

Port – everyone runs left

Starboard – everyone runs right

Climb the rigging – everyone mimes climbing a ladder

Scrub the decks – everyone on hands and knees scrubbing the floor

Captains coming – everyone stands still and salutes

Sharks – in pairs one person holds the other up off the ground as a piggy back.

I am sure you will be able to think of some other instructions to add to the game.
