ASCENSION:

Now we’re into January, the maximum temperature is slowly rising. This trend will continue, with highs averaging 30 degrees in town by the end of the month. The past week was fairly average weatherwise, but drizzly showers brought some dampness for early morning joggers on Sunday; serves them right.

ST. HELENA:

A promising start to the week, with only gentle to moderate winds and mostly sunny skies. It was all down hill from mid week, with a return to strong, gusty winds and cloudier skies.

UK:

After a mild start to the week, winds changed to bring in cold air from the continent. Daytime temperatures across much of the UK struggled to rise just a degree or two above freezing. Some snow also fell, chiefly across central and eastern counties.

FALKLANDS:

After a fine and settled (albeit rather chilly) start to the week, low pressure brought windier and more unsettled conditions to the islands.
