ASCENSION:

Despite October statistically being one of the driest months of the year rainfall amounts continue to be significant.  Higher ground such as The Residency and Travellers, as usual, bare the brunt of the rainfall, but lower lying areas are still significantly above average. Temperatures, as you would expect, are near normal. It was unusually windy at times with gusts above 30 KT recorded at the airhead on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, indeed on Tuesday strong winds caused some damage to buildings at Travellers Hill.

ST. HELENA:

Quite a breezy week with more rain than recently experienced. Variable amounts of cloud but the sun was spotted on several occasions. Temperatures near normal for the time of year.

UK:

Most of the week was settled as a large slow moving anticyclone became established. It did decline in time to allow some rainfall over the weekend.  A very dull week everywhere with very little sunshine, generally mild with light winds. The cloud was occasionally thick enough to produce rather persistent but very light drizzle, which made it unpleasant at times.

FALKLANDS:

The week started with an unusually intense and slow moving anticyclone covering The Falklands, normal service was resumed on Thursday as strong westerly winds re-established themselves. Conditions remain worryingly dry with rainfall in short supply, especially over West Falkland.
