ASCENSION: |
A mixture of good sunny periods and downpours for this week. Certainly the first couple of days pushed the temperatures upwards with some lovely afternoons of sunshine, whilst the latter part of the week saw a bit of a return to the bad old days of our lingering winter, with a good deal of cloud and rain. Some good rain totals are still being collected as we go up the hill, with the Residency picking up 34-odd mm of rain. |

ST. HELENA: |
Again, an extremely cloudy week for St. Helena with but a mere 5.2 hours sunshine, the island swallowed up in a thick blanket of practically unbroken cloud with occasional showers. |
UK: |
Strong South-Westerly winds, locally gale force with something of a drenching for Northern Britain, to start the week, as the northern hemisphere winter assured us that it is not far around the corner. As fronts passed across the country during the early part of the week, a stiff Westerly with occasional showers then set in, limiting temperatures, and with further miserable weather flitting Eastwards on Wednesday. A final low pressure system on Friday then ushered in a cool North-North-Westerly breeze for the weekend, with maximum temperatures struggling up to 17 degrees in Bognor Regis whilst Scotland struggled with more cloud and rain. |

A relatively mild Westerly flow over the islands soon became fairly wet by Tuesday as a number of fronts pushed in from the North West into Wednesday. As the flow switched back again towards the South-West on Thursday, cooler air started to filter in, almost achieving a frost on Thursday night, before more damp and dreary weather returned for the weekend. |
