Last Wednesday Georgetown was slightly less tranquil than usual as the balmy evening calm was completely destroyed by some vigorous if not entirely tuneful versions of popular British songs.

Natalie and her gang at the Tasty Tucker had pulled out all the stops to offer an evening of fine British Fayre accompanied by the pomp, ceremony and general rowdiness of the Last Night of the Proms.
Just over 40 guests were treated to a 5 course meal interrupted only by obligatory flag waving during renditions of Land Of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia and everyone’s favourite Ashes’ winning anthem, Jerusalem. Attempts at keeping time to the Hornpipe were enthusiastic if not always entirely successful but thanks anyway to the school for the loan of the percussion equipment.
It was a fantastic evening, with a diverse mix of people who all joined in the swing of things – some with slightly more gusto……………..and beer…………..than others. Of course there’s always a critic and Hannah showed her Simon Cowell like disdain by falling asleep and refusing to waken no matter how loud things got. There’s just no pleasing some people.
All in all then 10 out of 10. A chance to actually be allowed to be proud to be British whilst having a good time, fine wine and great company to boot. Encore!
