ASCENSION: |
After a fine, dry and clear start to the week, Monday night saw a transition to much hazier conditions with cloud shrouding the peaks of Green Mountain. The remainder of the week saw plenty of patchy cloud, although it did remain largely dry: the only shower that yielded any measurable precipitation was that experienced at Travellers on Sunday evening. Wind-wise, the bulk of the week saw only gentle to moderate south-easterlies, hence it was noticeable over the weekend when there was a marked freshening of the breeze. |

ST. HELENA: |
The island experienced a largely fine and dry week, with almost 50 hours of sunshine recorded. Winds were very light for much of the week before becoming fresh to strong and gusty over the weekend. |

UK: |
Conditions were generally settled over much of the UK, with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures (although these did trigger isolated heavy showers on some evenings). Brize Norton’s maximum temperature for the week, recorded on Thursday, exceeded our own, but the record for the week went to Gravesend in Kent with 32 Celsius. In the far North West, however, a succession of fronts brought cooler, wetter conditions, although there were still some decent clearer interludes. |

FALKLANDS:
|
There was a relatively mild start to the week, but the price paid for this was plenty of cloud and drizzle in a strong and gusty northerly wind. Thursday saw a transition to a cold and much clearer south-westerly airstream, although deteriorations in cloud base and visibility were experienced in outbreaks of wintry precipitation. These were mostly showery in nature, although there was a more prolonged period of sleet on Friday courtesy of an occluding frontal system. |
