ASCENSION:

Green Mountain continued to generate the odd very light shower, but in general the fine dry weather continued.

ST. HELENA:

A fine mainly dry week with a good deal of bright quite sunny weather.

UK:

A fairly cold week, with chilly North to NE’ly winds.  Many parts had a few wintry showers though snow amounts were generally small and mainly over the hills or in the east of Britain.  However the southeast of England, Essex and Kent in particular had a more notable snow event on Wednesday 2nd March with up to 20cm falling in some parts.  This caused disruption to transport links for a while.  A further spell of wintry weather affected the southeast again on Friday, but was much less severe as the weather soon turned milder. The highest temperatures for the week was 10 Celsius, recorded in several places in SW England and West Scotland.  The lowest was –9 Celsius at Redhill Airport.

FALKLANDS:

As low pressure moved away a ridge of high pressure came to dominate for a while to give a spell of fine dry and quite warm weather until Thursday.  Another low pressure area then brought some rain and strong winds by the end of the week.
