ASCENSION:
Rather cloudy weather returned for much of the week with a few light showers at first, though the end of the week was generally dry.It was gloriously sunny on Saturday with cloud lifting away from the peak of Green Mountain, probably for the first time for some while.
ST. HELENA:
It has been a dry and very sunny week with 63.1 hrs of sunshine recorded, that’s 9 hours per day on average.Though temperatures remained fairly typical for the time of year.
UK:
Occasional weather fronts flirted with the far north and west of Scotland, but the dominant feature has been the area of high pressure over much of Europe and the south and east of Britain through the week. This led to rather cool weather with a lot of low cloud, mist and fog over England in particular. The lowest temperature recorded was minus 5 Celsius at Aboyne in Scotland on the 8th, but frost was also quite common many nights over much of southern and eastern England. The west of Scotland has been wet at times with 34.7mm (1.37inches), recorded at Lusa on the Isle of Skye on the 6th, but elsewhere it has been mainly dry.Throughout the week the mildest weather has been in the north and west with maximums around 13 Celsius, but maximums in the south have been much lower, even Jersey in the Channel Islands no higher than 3 Celsius on the 12th.
FALKLANDS:
Typically mild temperatures and dry for much of the week with mainly moderate or fresh Westerly winds. It was warm from Thursday through to Saturday, but with gale or severe gale force Northerly winds on Friday 10th bringing more cloud and a little rain to take the edge of the temperatures a little. The warmest day was Thursday with a high of 23.3 Celsius.
