Austrian, Alfred Kramer and Russian Pavel Martysevich, are both Infrasound Officers working with the CTBTO, they visited Ascension last month to install vital monitoring equipment at the Central Process Facility, Travellers Hill.

When asked “how do the sites work?” Alfred and Pavel explained;

“When a nuclear explosion occurs it immediately generates waves which travel through the earth, each array site contains numerous underground sensor devices which can detect all sounds.  All information collected in sent to the Central Process Facility at Travellers, it is then sent onto Headquarters in Vienna”

In addition to nuclear explosions the Array Sites can also detect, volcanoes, concord taking off, satellite crashes, storms and earthquakes.

CTBTO are constructing INFRASOUND sites worldwide, one has already been constructed on Tristan, and Ascension is the 30^th site to be completed.
