Submitted by The Islander (Gavin Yon) 28.10.2004 (Article Archived on 11.11.2004)

On Saturday 30th October, a Halloween Party will be held in the Haunted House (One Boat Golf Club) in aid of the St Paul’s Elderly Care Sheltered Accommodation known as ‘Cape Villa’ on St Helena.

On Saturday 30th October, a Halloween Party will be held in the Haunted House (One Boat Golf Club) in aid of the St Paul’s Elderly Care Sheltered Accommodation known as ‘Cape Villa’ on St Helena.

The purpose of the Sheltered Accommodation is to give those in care their own independence, however, a television service is yet to be installed in the accommodation.

The organisers, Sarah Young and Johnny ‘JD’ Clingham, are hopeful of raising funds to install a television facility for the elderly which will enable them to remain entertained but in touch with news from around the world.

The amount needed for this installation is between £2000 and £2500.  This is a non-standard purchase charge and will cover services and special aerial/cable connection to pick up a signal.

The doors of the haunted house will open at 9.30pm with an entry fee of £1 per adult and 50p per child.  On entry, adults will receive a glass of free punch and children a glow bangle.  The undertaker is expected to arrive at 11.45pm and at midnight, 5 scary judges will judge the fancy dress competition for both adults and children.  Children will be judged in age groups where the winner will receive a ‘trick or treat’.  Adults will be judged in the categories of male, female or couple where the winners will receive a bottle of the witches’ finest brew.  Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the night for some great prizes and will be drawn after the fancy dress.  Food will also be on sale during the night.

The organisers would like you to join them for this great, unforgettable and adventurous party in the Haunted House that is guaranteed –

“a night to remember”.

Miss it! Miss out!

C U all there!
