RUNWAY FUN RUN RECAP
Saturday 5th July
A very big THANK YOU to everyone who took part, or assisted in any way in this year’s Runway Fun Run, which was held in aid of two very worth charities – the Ascension Island Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (A.I.S.P.C.A) and Making Ends Meet (St. Helena).
A total of 84 folk and 10 dogs turned up to brave the heat of the morning, along with the daunting task of either walking, running, cycling or rollerblading the entire length of the runway – a mere 10,000 feet! The requirement was to do one length only, but amazingly there were participants who actually completed 20,000 feet (2 lengths) – and some of them were under the age of 10! Well done to you all…an awesome achievement!
The total amount collected was £248.33, which was rounded up to make a final donation of £250.00. £125.00 (each) will be donated to the two charities mentioned above – thanks again to the folk who came out and donated their time and money.
Note: Photographs were taken of this event – thanks to Peter Crane. If you took part in the run and would like a copy of your achievement, please call 2724 (during normal business hours).
