Ascension : MESSAGE FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR - TASTY TUCKER
Submitted by The Islander (Ascension Island Government) 10.07.2014 (Article Archived on 31.07.2014)

I have received a bid, accompanied by a business plan, from an on-island venture to use the Tasty Tucker site in Georgetown for a retail outlet.

MESSAGE FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR

TASTY TUCKER

I have received a bid, accompanied by a business plan, from an on-island venture to use the Tasty Tucker site in Georgetown for a retail outlet. I am considering this very carefully and intend, in line with a desire to improve democratic oversight of Government, to consult and obtain the approval of the Island Council for any use of Tasty Tucker.

Before doing so I would like to seek further expressions of interest, supported by a business case, from any member of the community, or existing entity or organisation, to use the Tasty Tucker site for commercial purposes. Please note, I am prepared to approach the Island Council to approve applications involving tax or other concessions to strengthen the viability of any business plan.

If you wish to seek further details or access to Tasty Tucker, please feel free to contact either Catherine Leo or Nicola Dillon in the AIG Administration Building.

Deadline: Friday 19 July.

I will submit cases to the Island Council for advice at the end of July.

Please note that it is the intention of the Government to seek funding from the Council to renovate the former Reflections site in order to make this available for use as a commercial venture too.
