Chief of Police Visit to Ascension Island
As part of my Command of the Police Team on Ascension I am very pleased to be visiting the Island from 21st to the 27th June. I am looking forward to working with my team, having discussions with the Island Council, other island stakeholders and HH The Administrator. Arriving with me from St Helena will be the lead for Immigration matters, Mr Lewis Evans, who will be delivering immigration training to the Police Team and members of AIG.
I am also pleased to announce that the preferred candidate for the Police Inspector role on Ascension, Inspector Adam Greenslade will be visiting the Island the Island from the 19th June to 27th June to meet with me, the team and those living and working on the Island. Inspector Greenslade was selected from a very strong field of candidates and I am very confident that he will add great value to the team in serving the community of Ascension. A start date for Inspector Greenslade will be announced as soon as it is confirmed but I am he is very much looking forward to meeting the team and the islanders during his visit.
With regards to my team, my thanks goes to Acting Inspector Clarence Roberts who has stepped in to lead the team for me at short notice following the departure of the previous Inspector. I am also pleased to announce the arrival, in July, of a new Constable, PC Susan Tarvitt who is arriving from the UK. PC Tarvitt is a very experienced Police Officer who again will add value to the Policing on the Island. These changes mean that the Police Team will soon be up to full strength and in good shape to provide a high level of service on Ascension Island.
During my time on the Island, I will of course be available to any members of the community who wish to speak with me. On my agenda will be ensuring that the service we provide is the best it can be, how we can effectively and efficiently engage with the public and how we can best protect the Border of Ascension Island.
Please be reassured that the Policing on Ascension Island remains a high priority for me and I am determined to honour my commitment to visit twice per year to ensure that I support my policing team and be available to the people of Ascension Island.
