The District break begun with Two Boats firing three
pass Georgetown to kick start their campaign and continue their success from
recent years.

Winner and Runners-up in the previous two
years Two Boats lined up with a core of players that have played together many
times before against a Georgetown team that was filled with youth.

GOAL. The
first attack of the match came from Two Boats and resulted in a goal when Tyler
swung in a teasing cross after beating Yanick on the left wing, the cross
caused confusion between the Georgetown defence and the ball bounced free for
Boot to head in on the line on one minute.

Two Boats took
advantage of their early lead and showed their experience by taking control of
the game, Boot was also enjoying masses of space on the right wing against the
inexperienced Scott and working Michael hard at Left Back.

Two Boats second shot
came when Yanick miskicked a clearance which put Bubba under pressure to clear,
Boot was quick to react and stole the ball of Bubba and gave it to Bennett who
shot on target from outside the area.

Georgetown’s midfield
of Shoe and Peaches were struggling to stamp their authority against George and
Bennett and the Two Boats attacking waves continued to flow.

The Georgetown strike
partnership or John senior and junior were creating half chances between them
but the Two Boats defence coped well and saw out the dangers that came their
way. Duncan however who has been having a good season so far this year
continued to show promise with quick feet and a turn that Ronaldo would be
proud of, broke into the box but fired over the bar, Two Boats responded with
Schmichael swinging in a cross from the edge of the penalty area whilst
surrounded by Georgetown defenders but Boot or Ianie could not get on the end
of it to finish. Duncan was not finished and came back again with another mazy
run down the wing beating two players before storming into the area to force
Bluey into a save. Georgetown were now enjoying a good spell of possession,
which Callum used to his advantage when he set his dad up for a shot on target
which again forced Bluey into a diving save. Shoe was odds on to score soon
after when a neat give-and-go with Nicky saw him break the Two Boats offside
trap but Shavarn used his experience and showed Shoe wide and saw out the
danger.

The half ended with
George rolling back the years, cracking a stinging shot on target for Errol to
palm away, he had to react quickly and spread himself which was enough to
distract Ianie  and allow Georgetown to
clear.

Two Boats started the
second half as quick as the first calling Errol into action as Cody fired a
shot from outside of the area. But it was Georgetown’s turn to have the wind in
their sails with Shoe and Peaches finally getting a grip on the game creating
opportunities for the players around them. GOAL.  Michael broke forward from Left Back and let
rip a low shot from outside the area into the bottom corner leaving Bluey
scrambling to keep it out.

It was now Two Boats
turn to be on the back foot only able to create chances from outside of the
area, one of them came when Fuller cracked a shot from way outside of the area
only for it to fly over the bar.

Shoe was now breaking
forward with every opportunity testing Bluey several times, he should’ve scored
when after good work from Callum got him into Two Boats area, he looped a
teasing ball over his head which Shoe and Bluey both challenged for, Shoe got
to the ball first only to head over the bar.

About ????minutes in
Two Boats seemed to get a second burst of energy and started playing like they
did in the first half, with Schmichael fancying his chances for a goal having
already cracked several shots at goal and now both him and Cody were in on
goal, Melvyn left the ball for Errol to clear which he did but it rebounded of
Schmichael and could’ve gone anywhere but was lucky for it to go out to safety.

GOAL. Schmichael
was involved in the action again with him and Boot linking up well on the Right
Wing before squaring it to Bennett who let rip a low hard shot into the bottom
corner leaving Errol with no chance.

Georgetown took off
Nicky and brought on Alec and in the reshuffle they lost their shape which in
turn invited Tyler, Bennett and Schmichael the space to link up and apply
pressure to the Georgetown back four.

With minutes to go
Georgetown regrouped once again with Duncan knocking a ball over the top, Shoe
left the ball to Callum but he controlled with his arm which was seen by the
Referee and a Free Kick was given.

GOAL. The last
goal of the match came seconds before the end when Boot caught a through ball
before Errol but his shot was against the keeper only to rebound to Cody who
slot the ball home for three.

The opening game of
the district was an exciting one and perhaps Georgetown could’ve managed a
draw, but it was good to see young talent being selected to represent their
district. Two Boats however have started like they have in the previous two
years and showed their intent to regain the title they narrowly lost last
season.
