Rounders
week two: A Striking Good Match
Strikers Elite–
33 ˝ rounders
Saint &
Sinners – 2 rounders
The second week
match took off with Strikers Elite playing Saints n Sinners on Thursday. Things
took off slowly with the Saints n Sinners producing some “no balls”, but
eventually getting back into a good rhythm. Strikers Elite ended the first
round with the top number of 10 rounders. However, despite the strong winds and
the sudden shower of rain, all the ladies warmed up and got into action.
Charmaine Scott of Saints n Sinners proved excellent judgment as she caught a
high skyball, sending the player out. Angela Yon of the Strikers continues to
impress throughout her matches with good pitching and catching skills, sending
the opposition out. Shirelle Reynolds got a big clap from the spectators as she
gave a powerful hit on the ball, sending it far down the left field and
storming through with a rounder, with plenty of time to spare. Both sides were
very steady in showing a strong “Triangle Formation” between the pitcher, the
back stop and the first base, managing to catch out several players on both
teams.
The most
rounders went to Shelly Wade – Strikers – 8 rounders.

Rounders
week three: Round and Around We Go
Strikers Elite –10
rounders
Amatuers – 3
rounders
Starting off
week three were Strikers Elite versus Amatuers. Both teams were very level and
on point during the first inning and despite the good poise of the Strikers’
fielding skills, they had some difficulties getting past the strength of some
of the batters, such as Carrie Augustus, Marion Leo and Marie-Anne Dennis. Now
having swapped over, Strikers Elite were pumped up to get thoserounders going.
Amatuers were not about to let that happen too quickly, they put up a fight and
a tight triangle formation was seen again between Jackie Ellick, Patsy-Ann
Moyce and Debra Williams. Despite their best efforts, Strikers Elite took the
match. On a side note, we really enjoyed that healthy competition between mother
and daughter Marie-Anne and Kelly.
The most
rounders went to Shelly Wade – Strikers – 3 rounders

Saints &
Sinners – 1 ˝ rounders
Down N Dirty –
40 rounders
Sundays match
was Saints & Sinners versus Down N Dirty. Even though the match was clearly
dominated by Down N Dirty, I must commemorate Saints & Sinners on their
fielding skills between the right outfield and the infield. The spectators
could really see the effort that they were making, sharply getting down for
that ball and throwing back in, to either the pitcher or back stop. In doing so Saints & Sinners managed to
keep postponing the rounders made by Down N Dirty and got the players tired out
as they couldn’t get past second base on each turn. A well done goes out to
Denise Peters for her bowling skills and Sherilee Thomas, Catherine Leo and
Caroline Murrey in the outfield. Finally congratulations go out to Down N
Dirty, you have beaten Strikers Elite’s record with 40 rounders in a single match,
can’t wait to see what happens in the matches to come…
The most
rounders went to Cindy Corney – Down N Dirty – 10 ˝ rounders
