MUGA News

A small committee has been formed comprising of 5 members who expressed an interest in trying to get the most use out of the new facility for everyone on the island. The committee members are Tanya Benjamin, Colin Duncan, Neil Lawrence, Shavarn Young and Chris Baldry.A meeting was held on the 6th of May regarding the future use of the new sports facility (MUGA) at Two Boats Village, including taking feedback from children and islanders.

A small agenda was discussed going through the following points

·         Facilities/Work still needed

·         Booking System

·         Turn up and play nights

·         Future tournaments

·         Clubs

We discussed the need for several extra facilities which we have put forward to AIG who are in the process of looking into providing these. AIG is already taking steps to supply a storage facility for sports and cleaning equipment and bins at each end of the court.

Aone month trialbooking system will soon be in place. We will then take feedback and review whether the booking system is working. The court is booked by signing for its use on the timetable which will be attached to the new steps end entrance. You can book up to two weeks in advance.

The court will be available for booking between 10am – 3pm and 6pm – 10pm Monday to Friday as well as 10am – 10pm Saturday and Sundays (unless booked out to a pre-arranged“Turn up and Play” night, club or tournament).  The court is reserved for 16 and unders from 3pm – 6pm on weekdays.

Please note a maximumof 2 consecutive 1 hour slots are allowed to be booked.

Obviously if there are no bookings then anyone who turns up can use the facility.

“TURN UP AND PLAY” NIGHTS/TOURNAMENTS

The committee are very keen for some “Turn Up and Play” nights for different sports to be organised. This involves a certain sport being designated for a particular night.  Anyone who wants to participate just turns up and gets involved.

If anyone would like to organise a future tournament, “turn up and play” night or run a club, everyone is more than welcome to.  Please contact a committee member to arrange booking for these events and support will be given if required.

14 years+ Volleyball “Turn Up and Play” Wednesday 22nd May 6pm – 9pm
