Communication Inventions With Middle 1
Middle 1 visited the museum before the half term to find out how inventions have had an impact on Ascension Island.Obviously there are far too many to learn about in one session so we specifically looked at communication and how things have changed.
We started our visit by searching around the artefacts and displays for the little turtles. The children quickly navigated their way around and looked at the photos, many of which showed people that they know. They also enjoyed looking at the stories told in ‘The Islander’ in the past.
Alison Blunt then kindly took us around the electronic section of the museum and talked to us about Morse Code, the instruments people used on ships and explained what some of the electronic equipment did.
Mrs Blunt told us about how Ascension Island was very important when it came to laying the telegraph cables around the world.
This is the class looking at the Morse Code equipment before having a go themselves.
