St. Mary’s Church

 Ascension Island (Diocese of St.Helena)

From: FATHER CHRISTOPHER BROWN

On behalf of the Churchwardens and P.C.C. of St. Mary’s Church, my sincere thanks to Billy Minto, Brian Davies, the Island Fire Departments, and all who organised and supported the recent fund raising events. Part of the funds, will be donated to St. Mary’s Church for which we are most grateful.

On Friday at Two Boats School at 9-00am., the Award Ceremony takes place for the best painting and essay in the fire competition. Well done to all those who took part!

On Sunday last, we welcomed to our Eucharist, Lay Brother Duncan Badden who is accompanying his father Mr Ken Badden, the Attorney General. Duncan is a  music graduate ; he played the key board and sang at the service. He will be playing again on Sunday and will offer a short Christian reflection on the readings from holy scripture. We wish Duncan ,and his father Ken, a safe journey to St. Helena next week.

A new course of evening study and worship begin this Sunday at the home  of Dr. Bill and Felicity. This new course will focus on a careful study of the Gospel. We look forward to welcoming everyone to what promises to be an enjoyable course of study with the opportunity to ask questions and deepen our under - standing of the Christian faith.

Everyone is warmly welcomed to attend. Bishop Richard and his wife Jane will be arriving early next week by ship; we are looking forward to their visit. During their brief stay, Bishop Richard will confirm our confirmation candidates on the afternoon of Tuesday, 30th. Oct..
