Hello Readers,

Well another issue has come around bringing us swiftly towards the end of the year.  I know that there might be another two months before we start singing ‘Auld Lang Syne’, but already we’ve been talking about Christmas parties and plans.  The island clubs have been advertising their Christmas plans for a while already and as we know so well, island life is dependent on being well organised and prepared!

This has been a very busy weekend, with various activities being held in support of cancer awareness.  Saturday kicked off with a beach clean up by some very energetic helpers – well done to all who got involved.  Then there was a rumour that Elvis was spotted on his way to Two Boats Club!  Sounds like the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon!  And if this wasn’t enough, the weekend’s activities continued with a Runway Dash on Sunday!  No mean feat – I’ve done it – and it looks deceptively easy (quick)…10 minutes down and 10 minutes back!  Right, it goes on and on and on….!

One of the things I love about Ascension is the way everyone gets stuck in!  The coming weekend will be a good example of this with the annual outing of local witches, ghouls, zombies along with some cute pumpkins and fairies.  I am always amazed by the ingenuity of parents and participants who come up with such original ideas!  Sadly I will miss this year’s spooky scenes, but hopefully there will be a few photos in the Islander for me to enjoy!

Finally, I end on a note of joy and wish the Miller family our warmest congratulations on the birth of their baby daughter!  It was indeed a busy weekend!
