Hello Readers, I hope that you’re all recovered from a rather wet and windy bank holiday!
Although it appears that this week’s newspaper is quite a slim edition, there has been plenty of activity during the last few days despite the weather!
I want to start by congratulating the students of Two Boats School for their excellent GCSE results! A 100% pass rate is an excellent achievement; well done to students and teachers! This is the time of year when options are assessed and decisions made. Whatever path our school leavers choose, we wish them well as they embark on an exciting future.
The 2012 Olympics were inspiring! It was great to see people recognised for achievements that they had dedicated themselves to through hard work and commitment. The stories, the medals, the joys and the disappointments were played out during two weeks of excellent sportsmanship.
This week sees the start of the Paralympic Games and the build-up has been gentle in comparison to the ‘main event’. That said, these Games are set to be the biggest of its kind and will certainly raise the profile of Paralympic sport. Let the games begin!
There has been a bit of a lull on sporting activities locally, which is probably usual for this time of year. (I stand to be corrected by those who do participate!) But it won’t be long before it all ‘kicks’ off again and football, rounders, softball etc. will be in full ‘swing’ again.
Have a great week!
Nicola
