Submitted by The Islander (Islander Editors) 30.08.2012 (Article Archived on 13.09.2012)

Or has he? Rumour has it he put in a stunning performance on Thursday, 23 August at the NAAFI.

Above right: Les (Sgt Forsyth, RAF Medic), Sgt Sarah Barrows (on the Left who is a RAF Chef) and Sgt Clare Knight (on the right, a RAF Nurse).  Sarah and Clare were responsible for collecting entrance fees of £3:00 per person.  There was also a quiz and a raffle to aid raising money.

ELVIS DROPS IN AT NAAFI FOR A PERFORMANCE

It was Thursday 23 Aug. The night was very cold and wet, but yet the NAAFI Bar on Traveller’s Hill was rocking to the sound of Elvis Presley.

Approximately 60 people braved the elements to help Elvis raise as much money as possible so they could purchase emergency life saving equipment for Georgetown Hospital.

Sgt Les Forsyth, MBE entertained the crowd with such classics as Moody Blue, Suspicious Minds, In The Ghetto, American Trilogy and My Way, to name but a few.

It was very well appreciated by the crowd, as the final count today showed the whole night had raised a grand total of £911.00.

This money will now go towards purchasing a Continuous Pressure Air Pump with assessories, which will be used in the emergency treatment of premature babies.
