Ascension : AU REVOIR THE COOK FAMILY
Submitted by The Islander (Islander Editors) 16.08.2012 (Article Archived on 30.08.2012)

The Cook family would like to thank all our friends for a fantastic “splashdown” on Saturday night/Sunday morning!!

Especially thanking Ceddie (for being Ceddie), Sylvie (for being kind and generous), Cheryl (best co-ordinator on the Island), Robert (for the bar), Glenda (for the fantastic cakes!), David (for the disco), Anna (for being an artist), Luke (for being another kind of Artist!), Kristian (for his fantastic dancing skills) and everyone who came, danced, ate, drank and enjoyed the evening/morning!!

Our departure from Ascension has made us feel quite poetical, so here’s a ditty for all our friends …

The Cook family came to Ascension

To work and to walk, and to play

They found it quite hot, and food cost a lot

But they settled in Bungalow 5  4

Paul played the church organ on Sundays

With Milenko he cycled on Mondays

Thursday evening with Ceddie, with guitar at the ready

Museum on Saturday and more …

Their time on the Island passed quickly

There were so many things to do

Mountain paths to be climbed and treasures to find

And making of friendships new

So au revoir to all of our Saint friends

We’ll certainly meet soon again

Be proud of your wonderful Islands

And let’s make “happy clappy” return!

AU REVOIR FOR NOW

PAUL, LORNA AND KITTY XXX
