From: FATHER CHRISTOPHER BROWN

Thank you to all those on the island who are working hard to make the

Royal Diamond Jubilee Celebrations  enjoyable and memorable.

The celebration opens with the Royal Diamond Jubilee Service at 10-00 a.m. on June 2nd.. The short service includes patriotic music ,hymns, and a short address on the life and reign of H.M .Queen Elizabeth II. It is hoped that our island organizations will join us at St. Mary’s to launch the four days of celebration.

Present at the service will be V.I.P’s, including H.H. the Administrator, and Wing Commander Stuart Andrews both of whom will be speaking at the service; prayers in the service will be led by Lay Minister Alan Nicholls and representatives of the island community. The Island Youth Organisations will be invited to form a Church Parade. Immediately following the service, the A.D.F. fair will be officially opened by H.H. Colin Wells.

My sincere thanks to Major Peterson of the American Base, and his staff , for their enthusiastic support of the Fair. Maj. Peterson informs me that he will be supporting his staff on the day helping to run one of the stalls; we are all delighted to  learn that.

The Sunday service this Sunday will be a Eucharist at 10-30 a.m.. We will be

saying our farewells to Baptist Minister Graeme Beckett and Baptist Deacon

Vincent March. Many thanks to Two Boats Club for their hospitality and kindness in providing the venue for Graeme’s Services. This Sunday, at the kind invitation of Ms. Shari Parkhill, the farewell service for Graeme and Vincent will be at The Grotto at 6-30pm.. This service is for all those interested in the Christian Faith.

We all wish Graeme and Vincent a safe, and restful, return voyage to St. Helena.  We are now preparing to welcome back Canon Ray Best and his wife Maureen. They return to Ascension on May 17. Canon Ray will be our celebrant at the Festival Eucharist ( 7-00 p.m.) on Ascension Day.
