Next week we welcome Baptist Minister, Rev. Graeme Beckett on island, he will be assisted by Deacon Vincent March in leading services, discussion groups and studies around the island during his stay. If you want to contact Graeme, he’ll be staying with Father Chris at the vicarage. Graeme and Vincent will have brought news and blessings from our families on Saint Helena so if you meet them, please stop and say hello.

I was born in the small town of Tongaat, Natal, South Africa, which is about 30 miles north of Durban.
I came to faith in Christ during high school through reading the Bible. At the time of coming to faith in Christ, I took up first the bugle and then the trumpet, and represented my province at a national cadet band competition (individual trumpet section). At the age of 14, my music teacher took me to the regimental band of the Durban Light Infantry, and also the Natal Mounted Rifles.
After high school, I completed my national service with the South African Army Band.
Feeling the call of God to enter the ministry while still at high school, I entered the Baptist Theological College at the age of 22, graduating four years later, however the door seemed to close on the ministry, so a career in accountancy was pursued, later obtaining a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree. After 32 years as an accountant, during which time I served as a deacon and lay preacher, the Lord finally opened the door to enter full time Christian Ministry. I am married to Hazel (37 years) and we have three adult children. A daughter (35) who is the Children and Family Worker at All Souls Church, Langham Place, London, a son (35) living in Delft, Holland and a younger son (26) who is assisting us in the ministry on St Helena.
