Ascension : I walked a mile - By Clare Grey
Submitted by The Islander (Islander Editors) 29.03.2012 (Article Archived on 12.04.2012)

There is sadness in this world, That we don’t always get to see

I walked a mile

There is sadness in this world

That we don’t always get to see

Unless we watch the news

Or something like Sport Relief.

It breaks my heart to see

The kids that suffer so

At how much poverty is in this world

That people need to know.

We have watched a dad suffering

So helpless as can be

As his child lay dying

He weeps and prays silently.

That £2.00 you kindly gave me

Will help a malnourished child

So I would like to say

I’m glad I walked that mile.

(C. Grey)
