St. Mary’s Church
 Ascension Island (Diocese of St.Helena)

From: FATHER CHRISTOPHER BROWN

During this past week, the Anglican Prayer books arrived and are now awaiting collection by those who placed an order for one. The cost of a Prayer Book, should you need to place an order in the future, is ten pounds.

Last week’s Battle of Britain Service was a memorable occasion: my sincere thanks to Flt Lt. Barney Jones and his staff, who produced the Order of Service; and Paul Cook who accompanied the hymns and inspired such robust singing.

Please note: St. Mary’s Anglican Church extends a very warm welcome to Christians of every denomination and none. In this past week, I have met  with members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Elim Pentecostal

Church, the Salvation Army ,and with others who claim no allegiance to any denomination. On all occasions, I have made the point that all are welcome to join our worship at St. Mary’s which aims to be as inclusive as possible. There may be some who are exploring the Christian Faith for the first time; please join our 10-30am .services on Sundays for a while and then come to the Christianity Explored Course which will begin next month.

If you happen to be free on Tuesday nights and have a love of poetry and music then come to our first meeting on TUES. 4th.October. The first meeting will be at Paul Cook’s house, starting at 7-00pm.. Come armed with a your favourite poem, or a song (non religious); bring your triangles, gazoos, comb and paper, pipe and drum; singing voices, mandolins and harps are particularly welcome! It promises to be home  entertainment at it’s best—bring a plate of food and/or a bottle and join in the fun. All welcome !!
