Ascension : VACANCIES – EU FUNDED ROADS PROJECT

The Ascension Island Government is currently recruiting suitably qualified and experienced persons to carry out the European Union funded EDF10 Roads Project.

 VACANCIES – EU FUNDED ROADS PROJECT

The Ascension Island Government is currently recruiting suitably qualified and experienced persons to carry out the European Union funded EDF10 Roads Project. The following positions are available on a 2 year fixed contract basis:-

2 X Plant Operators

The project will require two competent plant operators to perform skilled work operating plant in maintenance, construction, excavation or haulage work as detailed by the Team Leader. Assisting with other plant related tasks will also be a requirement.

The successful candidate must have at least 3 years experience as a competent plant operator. A clean, valid driving licence for vehicles of classes A to J is essential.

Salary will depend upon ability and experience. An appropriate Ascension allowance will be paid and accommodation            provided.

4 X Construction ,Civil & Grounds Maintenance Operatives

The project will also require flexible and enthusiastic individuals who are seeking a new challenge and who can work well as part of a team.  Due to the phased nature of the works and the project peaks and troughs, successful candidates will             be required to carry out other duties in the building, civils and operatives teams to suit the project plan. As such,  additional skills other than roads construction will be an advantage.

 

The successful candidates must have prior experience in some of the duties set out above. They must also have a working     knowledge of Health & Safety at Work and good communication skills.

 

Salary will depend upon ability and experience. An appropriate Ascension allowance will be paid and accommodation            provided.

 

Please note that stevedore duties will be a core function for all of the above posts

 

The project is being funded by the EU for a two year period but for local purposes the two year contracts will be standard AIG ones, and are offered on household or single status terms. The successful candidates might also be expected to share a house (two persons) as a part of the accommodation arrangements.
