The Governor will be making a short visit to Ascension Island this week in order to meet the new Council and discuss with them a range of important issues surrounding the future of the island. He will leave on the RMS on Wednesday 6th April and return the following Monday.
Ascension Island has been the subject of a great deal of discussion recently and Governor Gurr said: "Considerable progress has been made over the past few months and I look forward to being able to discuss the future with far more confidence and certainty than has been the case for some time"
During the Governor’s absence, Mrs. Gilly Francis, the Acting Chief Secretary, will serve as Governor’s Deputy.
